Agricultural Co-operatives: An Annotated Bibliography: Theoretical and Empirical Literature and Selected Overseas Studies
ACCORD has released an Annotated Bibliography on Agricultural Co-operatives, listing Theoretical and Empirical Literature and Selected Overseas Studies.
The purpose of this annotated bibliography (which incudes more than 150 references) was to bring together the literature on both theory and practice of agricultural co-operatives in general, and also to provide an overview of the structure, strategy and evolution of the selected agricultural co-operatives. Apart from presenting classical texts on agricultural co-operatives, the intention was also to identify recent trends in co-operative research.
This bibliography should interest three main audiences:
- farming and general rural communities, including extension officers and managers of co-operatives,
- those involved in cooperative development at different levels, as well as policymakers and rural development practitioners, and
- scholars and postgraduate students researching agricultural co-operation.
The bibliography was organised into nine main topics:
- theory of agricultural co-operatives,
- structure and strategy,
- performance,
- members' participation and attitudes,
- New Generation Co-operatives
- other structural arrangements of agricultural co-operatives, such as business networking,
- agricultural co-operatives in the 21st century,
- other aspects of agricultural co-operatives, for instance, their role in environmental management, and
- an overview of selected overseas case studies of agricultural co-operatives.
